Five ways to make your kitchen pop

It is often said that the kitchen is the heart of the home, so we think it deserves to look fantastic.

Sometimes it’s not obvious what your kitchen is missing, or even what you could add to make it eye-catching.

That’s why we have come up with five ways to make your kitchen pop. The list is by no means exhaustive and we’re available to advise on the latest trends.

We have also included some links to some of our projects so you can get an idea of how Turman Kitchens can revolutionise your dining area.

Plants, plants, and more…plants

Plants are a solid choice no matter which room you are decorating.

They are versatile and downright gorgeous! The choices are almost limitless, from small cacti on a windowsill or large floor plants, you can even go for some hanging plants if you are working with a small space or open shelving.

If you’re not green fingered mixing a few real plants with artificial ones keeps them looking fresh and easier to work with in darker areas.

A print for all seasons

Adding a splash or a dash of colour to a kitchen is always a good idea.

There are times when a block of a single shade just doesn’t cut it.

Enter the use of artwork.

Prints offer all the eye-catching excitement of colour without the hassle and expense.    There are, again, almost limitless options here and can be changed as you wish.

You could opt for matching print curtains and rugs and use them as inspiration for the main colour theme.

Our Greenhill Project shows how the use of bold print window blinds can create an eye-catching contrast to the rest of the kitchen.

Show the kitchen table some love

Whilst the kitchen table can be troublesome to decorate, it’s worth considering.

The key here is to not overload the surface with decorative pieces, you’ll still need to be able to eat off of it after all!

Tablecloths or runners can be a great way to brighten the table. If the rest of the colour theme is neutral, a colourful tablecloth will only be enhanced by the plain background.

Go big or go home

Large funky furniture always creates a focal point. Consider adding a colourful bar stool or even a reading chair if space allows.

Statement pendant lights over an island are always a must, this never fails to transform the room.

Truman Kitchen’s Netherwood Farm project demonstrates not only how the use of plants can brighten up a dining space, but also how you can make a statement with furniture.

The hunt for unique items will pay off when they turn your kitchen into the centrepiece of your home.

Consider the appliances

We feel that the term “white goods” has influenced the way people decorate their kitchens.

Large appliances need not be ugly, boring, or plain.

Modern manufacturers are pushing the limits of design, colour, and finishes.

It’s also worth considering your small appliances too, as these can be standout features in their own right.
