Mental Health Awareness Week – let’s get together

Every year the Mental Health Foundation hosts its Mental Health Awareness Week campaign, and this year’s theme is loneliness. #IveBeenThere

One in four adults feels lonely some or all the time. Plus, the longer we feel lonely, the more we are at risk of mental health problems.

So, how can we battle loneliness?

Together!

At Truman Kitchens, we believe that one of the best ways to get together with loved ones is in the kitchen and through food.

Think about it. Not only are kitchens the foundation of the home and enable everything to run smoothly, but most parties end up with friends gathered around the kitchen, picking at the leftover delicacies, helping the host clean up, and discussing funny memories. Plus, how lovely is it to spend some time cooking with the family and sharing recipes?

In honour of Mental Health Awareness Week, we are sharing our favourite activities to do in our dream kitchens:

  1. Have a good old-fashioned bake-off

Not only will this test your skills, but it will create some good laughs and hopefully nice treats to eat too!

  1. Have a drink tasting experience

Whether you prefer gin, whiskey, or something softer like a smoothie, either share new beverages with your loved ones or test them to see if they guess them correctly.

  1. Have a pizza party

Because who doesn’t love pizza! This way, you all can have your choice of the perfect pizza

  1. Experiment with recipes

Whether you consider yourself more of an experienced chef or a beginner, don’t be afraid to try innovative new dishes with your own twist – it can be a great way to share your culture and heritage with loved ones too.

If these ideas sound up your street but you don’t have the room or facilities to host, chat to us. We would love to get you closer to obtaining your dream kitchen.
