Choosing the colour palette for your kitchen

Can’t decide between a light or dark colour scheme for your kitchen?

The colour choices of your cabinets, worktops and appliances will have a major impact on the overall final look and feel of your kitchen.

Our explanation of both colour options might make the decision easier.

Each year brings a new ‘must have’ style for your kitchen or the next best colour to incorporate into your home, but it can be difficult to decide when you want your kitchen to be the heart of your home and a space where everyone can be comfortable.

If you’re leaning towards lighter colours…

Going for a lighter colour scheme for kitchen cabinets, worktops and appliances will give you that desired timeless effect, providing a calm and airy atmosphere.

Paler shades of cabinets and work surfaces will always be a favourite regardless of which colours are on the top of the trending lists.

Opting for a lighter colour palette in your kitchen would lend itself to a more varied colour palette when designing other elements in the room, such as antiqued brass taps and handles or warm wooden flooring.

We have an exclusive selection of colours for you to choose from and can provide a bespoke colour-matching service if required.

As we move into autumn, adding accessories or foliage of light and pastel greens, oranges and browns, would integrate nicely with a new or existing kitchen design.

Any cons?

Like with any design, there may be some issues to consider before deciding to commit to a specific kitchen style.

When it comes to lighter colour palettes in your kitchen, you may have to spend a little more time cleaning, as lighter colours tend to show remnants of food on surfaces and any day-to-day scuffs more easily.

This may be something to consider if you have young children or pets who will be playing in the kitchen regularly!
